The Colorado Public Utilities Commission has decided to cut Xcel Energy’s original rate hike request for residential customers. Under the new decision, Colorado residential electric bills will rise by $5 per month, which represents about half of what the utility company originally requested.
Despite the reduction, Xcel Energy may seek a rehearing regarding the decision. The ruling comes as the state continues to evaluate utility rate structures for residents.
